Academic Performance
MAP Assessment — 5-year trends
GIPA tracks student attainment and growth using the internationally benchmarked MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment across Grades 3–9. The data below covers five consecutive academic years, showing consistent year-on-year improvement across all subjects.
Math attainment +30.5pp
From 30.5% to 61.0% in a single year — the largest single-year gain across all subjects.
Science attainment +29.2pp
Jumped from 31.8% to 61.0%, reflecting strong curriculum and lab programme investment.
Algebra 1 at 77%
Grade 9 algebra attainment now stands at 77% — more than double the 2020–21 figure of 31%.
Teaching & Learning
Our approach to instruction
GIPA’s instructional model is grounded in the 4E framework — Engage, Explore, Express, Evaluate — ensuring active, differentiated, and data-informed learning for every student across all phases and subjects.
Engage
Hook students with real-world connections, curiosity-driven questions, and prior knowledge activation.
Explore
Students investigate concepts hands-on through experiments, research, discussion, and collaborative tasks.
Express
Differentiated output tasks allow every learner to demonstrate understanding through their individual strengths.
Evaluate
Formative and summative data informs the next teaching cycle, closing the feedback loop for every student.
Assessment portfolio
MAP (Measures of Academic Progress)
Externally administered in English, Math and Science for Grades 3–9 — benchmarked against US national norms twice yearly (fall and spring).
Arabic Benchmark Test (ABT)
All-student Arabic language assessment covering all four skills. Transition from sample-based IBT now complete, improving data reliability.
IXL adaptive diagnostics
Continuous adaptive practice aligned with MAP standards, giving teachers real-time data for differentiated “Express” tasks in every lesson.
Performance assessments (PA)
Project-based assessments after each unit, integrating DOK3 questions, cross-curricular thinking, and 21st-century skills.
Professional development priorities
Monthly whole-staff CPD, weekly departmental meetings, peer observation cycles, and 1:1 coaching for all teaching staff.

School Development Plan 2023–2025
Strategic priorities for improvement
Based on Irtiqa’a inspection findings and Cognia accreditation recommendations, the GIPA SDP 2023–2025 targets six performance standards. Each priority is monitored termly with defined evidence sources and review dates.
Student achievement — all subjects and phases
Improving fluency and comprehension in English and Arabic; strengthening mathematical measurement, data literacy, statistics, and algebraic reasoning; increasing practical science investigations and real-world STEM applications across all grade levels. Strategies include curriculum modifications, performance assessments with DOK3 questions, and targeted intervention classes.
Teaching quality — the 4E model and differentiation
Embedding the Engage-Explore-Express-Evaluate lesson structure school-wide. Ensuring the “Express” component is differentiated based on live data. Raising teacher expectations through challenging questioning, honour boards, and GIPA Score motivation. Lesson planning checks integrated into teacher appraisals.
Assessment — benchmarking, data use and digital resources
All eligible students sitting MAP for English, Math and Science. Full transition to ABT for Arabic. IXL and Alef reports integrated into planning cycles. MAP attainment levels added to report card mark breakdowns. Formative feedback training embedded in induction and CPD. Regular work scrutiny cycles to monitor feedback quality.
Student wellbeing, SEN support and career guidance
Strengthening G&T identification using MAP data. Expanding career counselling to Grade 8. Increasing SEN inclusion staff and adding a speech therapist. Partnering with a specialist centre for additional on-campus support. Push-in and pull-out sessions restructured for greater impact in middle and high school.
Leadership — self-evaluation accuracy and accountability
Training middle leaders in data analysis and SEF narrative writing. Establishing a monthly governing board performance report. Conducting termly harvest meetings and triangulating data across MAP, ABT, and internal assessments. Peer observation, 1:1 coaching, and appraisal-linked improvement plans for all teachers and leaders.
School environment — facilities, resources and inclusion
Revamping science laboratories with updated equipment and safety measures; hiring a professional lab technician. Upgrading both libraries with expanded national identity and research resources. Installing a dedicated ramp for students with mobility needs. Improving the learning environment for elementary students and boys in middle and high phases.
